E-commerce could kill 30K stores and half a million jobs by 2025

E-commerce is hammering stores, shares a study appearing in RetailDive.   Each e-commerce job kills four traditional jobs, and it may help close 30k stores in the next 5 years.

Are brands bypassing stores? A new survey says 'yes' they are: 40% of Americans shopped directly from a brand in the past year, according a Diffussion survey.

Shoppers are choosing to bypass stores because the brands are undercutting them on prices, and offering faster and cheaper shipping.

Are your store displays 'frozen' in time? Compare Target and Kohl's Frozen 2 displays.

Retail Dive shares this observation:

A "Frozen 2" display at Target (top photo) fosters discovery, while the same goods at Kohl's (pictured lower) are stacked efficiently. "The two photographs say everything about how those companies operate," says retail consultant Sanford Stein.

Macy's sales were down in the third quarter, its stock is down 55% this year, and it was hacked.

Bridge fights hackers daily, so we know how hard this battle can be. Yet, Macy's seems to be experiencing many issues--some of which are self-inflicted, which leads us to ask: Does Macy's need new leadership?

Wayfair had about 4 buyers visiting 41 Madison showrooms last week. While the building and showrooms love buyers, I'd suggest some caution with Wayfair since it’s hemorrhaging money.
